Kosovo police confirmed that 21 locations have been checked and 16 people suspected of links to criminal acts have been arrested.
The action is carried out by the Directorate for Investigation of Organised Crime and Dead Crimes, in co-operation with the Mitrovica Foundation Prosecutor and support from Kosovo police and Police Inspectorate.
The operation has been conducted after several months of investigation and by order of the Constitutional Court in Mitrovica.
“In operation locations were checked in South and North Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Skenderaj and Leposaviq. During the search, police have seized 9 firearms, 200 rounds, various ammunition, 15 mobile phones, two pairs of handcuffs, one knife, barrel weapons, weapons bills and 1 DVR”, It says on notice.
At the end of the investigation, 13 of the detainees have been placed in the ban for 48 hours, while further investigations are under way to clarify other details.
