This request was on the agenda of the Committee meeting, which is being held in Paris.
Ariana Musliu Shoshi é part of the Kosovo delegation said that, at the request of European People's Party Chairman Pablo Hispan, was voted to postpone this point from the agenda.
Musliu Shoshi named this “an unexpected development”, reports Radio Free Europe.
“This situation shows the need for mobilization as a state, in collaboration with our allies, to create a clear strategy that will ensure the realisation of our priorities and agendas in the International Arena”, she wrote on Facebook.
Earlier, Serbia's Parliament Speaker Anna Brnabyq reported on this.
During Serbia's Parliamentary Assembly session, she said she was notified by the Serbian delegation's chief at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Bilana Pantic.
“Great gratitude for our Spanish friends, great gratitude for our friends from the European People's Party (EPP), who offered us support so that we could get the majority to get this point off the agenda of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe”, Brnabiq said.
Attending today's meeting are Besnik Tahiri and Ariana Musliu Shoshi, members of the Kosovo delegation to the Council of Europe. Radio Free Europe is making efforts to contact them for a comment.
Also, Free Europe Radio has also turned to the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this issue and is awaiting the response.
The Parliamentary Assembly could grant the status of a special guest to the national parliaments of European countries that are not member states but have applied for membership in the Council of Europe.
Members of the special guest delegation could sit at the Parliamentary Assembly, but they have no right to vote. They have the right to give a speech with permission of the Assembly president.
Kosovo failed to join the Council of Europe at the beginning of 2017, because it conditioned to establish the Association of Serb-run municipalities in Kosovo.
Last year, Serbia had formed a working group for co-ordinating the activities of state authorities against Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe.
The Council of Europe is a leading organisation to protect human rights. Evental membership would help Kosovo, among other things, in the area of rule of law, and fighting corruption.
