Yermak, who heads the Ukrainian president's office, said he had just completed a telephone conversation with US national security adviser Mike Waltz. During this conversation, the two sides discussed future steps that could be taken to achieve a long-term solution to the conflict and to ensure stability in the region, the telegraph reports.
“We discussed the next steps towards a just and lasting peace”, Yermak said in a statement to the media. He added that the discussion was also focused on how strategic relations and co-operation between the two countries can be strengthened to achieve a sustainable and acceptable solution for both sides, he writes. According to him, it was an opportunity to discuss and secure a platform for deepening co-operation in the area of security, to meet the challenges posed by continued tensions in the region.
“We have set a meeting for our teams in the near future to continue this important task”, he said, underlining the importance of continuing dialogue and close co-ordination between the two countries to realise common goals.
The meeting is expected to serve as another step in strengthening bilateral ties and joint efforts to achieve a lasting peace and a stabilised development in the region.
Otherwise, Zelensky in the night speech stressed that there has been “positive progress” in co-operation with Washington and that he expects tangible results.
