“Today, following a quick and co-ordinated investigation, Kosovo Police, namely Economic Crimes Investigation Sector, have conducted an operation to prevent a person suspected of counterfeiting money. The investigation was launched after an indictment by a citizen of the Pec region who had accepted a total of $9,000 ($9,000, U.S.) on behalf of a return debt for car trading. After doubts about the authenticity of the money, the citizen has reported the case to competent authorities, and after verifications and investigative actions, a suspect from the city of Pec has been identified and arrested, suspected of having committed the criminal work of “Money counterfeit” under Article 296 of the Republic of Kosovo Penal Code (KPRK). ”
Police say $9,000 has been seized and that the suspect has been sent to the hold for 48 hours.
The number of cash seized is $9,000. The suspect was interviewed in the presence of his defense attorney and, under the verdict of the Peja Prosecutor, has been sent to custody for 48 hours. The investigation is under way and all necessary actions are being taken to fully whiteen the case.
