Robert Fico has also stressed that the European Council had made no concrete commitments to Ukraine regarding providing mandatory financial and military assistance at its summit Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference, Fico says that according to the closing statement, any assistance for Ukraine will continue to be on voluntary grounds, and Slovakia would certainly not be among those countries to offer it.
He welcomes a recognition in the text of Slovakia's concerns about negotiations on the renewal of Russian natural gas supplies to Central Europe via Ukraine, and says Bratislava will now exercise maximum pressure on Kiev to resolve the issue.
