The security situation in the Balkans is seriously wavering, Vuciq says

Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said the security situation in the Balkans is “seribly shaken” and that Serbia “tries to preserve peace and stability, as well as the security of all its citizens”. On March 10, Vuciq attended a government meeting at which, he said, the situation was discussed [...]
On March 10th, Vuciq attended a government meeting, at which, he said, was discussed the current security situation in the country and the region, especially for the “security challenges in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
We also discussed all aspects of the protest warned on March 15th”, Vuciq wrote in his Instagram account after the government meeting.
Earlier, the Serbian president had declared that in the protest and blockade warned by students for March 15th in Belgrade, he expects the “Oposit to organise major violence”.
Without providing details and evidence for these claims, Vucic said that the “all those who will participate in this will be arrested”.
Massive gatherings, organised so far by students in several large cities in Serbia, demanding responsibility for the deaths of 15 people from the collapse of the Hekurudhor station in Novi Sad, have been peaceful and no incidents have been marked.
Vuciq said the theme of the Government meeting was also the influence of blockades in Serbia on the state of the economy.
“We also stopped in the state of the economy in light of the current protests, as well as the damage caused by these events, which is reflected in lowering investments and other challenges to the economy”, Vuciq stressed.
He added that a reconciliation has been reached for taking emergency measures “to ease the consequences and support the economic sectors affected by these” circumstances.
With several months of blockades and protests in Serbia, students and citizens who support them are seeking the publication of all documentation on the reconstruction of Novi Sad's Hekurudor Station, to determine responsibility for the tragedy, prosecution of attackers against participants in the up-to-date protests, as well as the interruption of proceedings against those arrested in demonstrations.
The government claims it has met all student demands, while a group of experts formed by the Belgrade University Senate in a report has denied it. /rel/
