Pristina municipality Chairman Progress Rama has said that he is carefully following the Podujevo bus driver protest against the decision on inter-urban lines.
Rama has said that this decision is being respected by inter-urban lines coming from other cities and has called on drivers from Podujevo to respect the decision, as do other lines of Kosovo cities.
The “Attention is following the protest of bus drivers from Podujevo, who are protesting in front of the municipality's object against the decision on interurban lines, the decision which has been implemented and respected consistently by inter-urban lines coming from Drinas, Peja, Gjakova, Mitrovica, Ferizaj and other towns”, Rama said.
He has clarified that this decision requires interurban lines to use regional roads and to have a <x0 stop point Bus station” So far, buses from Podujevo have circulated even within the capital, which has burdened traffic and interfered with urban traffic competencies, which is responsible for traffic services within the capital.
I've been waiting several times with my team, the representatives of the lines from Podujevo and agreed that the lines from Podujevo will stop at “Bus station”, while the capital's Inspectorate will take care of the illegal taxi removal on the “Ilr Konushevci”, potentially damaging operators from Podujevo”, Rama said.
Therefore, I invite protesters to respect the decision we agreed on at our meetings, as do other lines from Kosovo's towns”, he added.
Rama has said the decision helps lower the traffic burden on the access and exit route “Ilr Konushevci”, known as the path to “Lapi's Namia”.
With this reform, citizens from all over Kosovo will be able to travel within the capital for only 80 cents a day, using a joint ticket for all public transport lines”, Rama has been argued.
According to him, with this reform, the citizens of Podujevo and all of Llap were provided parking at “Trimese Codder”, where they can leave vehicles and use urban transportation to connect with other parts of the city.
“Disrespecting the decision has brought legal consequences, including fines imposed by Kosovo Police. Decisions are made for the general benefit of citizens, and I invite protesters to respect these decisions to ensure a more organised and secure capital for all”, he said.
