Donald Trump has said he could financially strike Russia, while Ukraine's president has urged him to take tough steps against Moscow if Russia does not support a 30-day ceasefire, which was agreed on at a meeting between Ukrainian and American delegations to Saudi Arabia, writes The GuardianPeriscope broadcast.
Washington and Kiev are awaiting Moscow's response to the ceasefire proposal, and are expected to have US envoys hold talks with Vladimir Putin by the end of the week.
The Kremlin has not stated publicly whether or not it supports an immediate ceasefire.
