The message of President Lumir Abdixhiku on the 26th anniversary of NATO military intervention:

March 24th, 1999, reminds us of Kosovo's new moment of its centuries-old freedom bid, and also of the end of the suffering of the oppressed people in Kosovo. This date of NATO military intervention marks a new moment for Kosovo and for the century-long freedom effort, which opened the path to freedom and at the end of the country's independence.

Therefore, citizens of the Republic of Kosovo are always grateful to the Western world, the US with allies, who through NATO gave hope, which the people waited for for for for years.

We must remember this day forever because March 24, 1999, is the foundation of our freedom, our citizenship. Over two decades later, the effort to build the state of Kosovo -- a just, strong, dignified state -- continues. Today Kosovo girls and boys in uniform exercise peacekeeping missions around the world; and this in itself honours all the men and women of the country and abroad, who have made it possible for 24 March to happen.

And, beyond military intervention against Serbia's genocide regime, 24 March is the date of the birth of a new alliance, a natural link of beliefs and no interests whose aspirations the people of Kosovo had expressed, expressed and expressed.
