Former Energy Minister Ethem Ceku has suggested that Kosovo cannot escape the energy price hike.
Commenting on the demand of three energy companies for the price of electricity, he has criticised the Government of Kosovo, which has not built any energy capacity.
In an interview for Radio Free Europe, he said the price of electricity would rise to 15 percent.
“I believe the office [ THE GER] needs to analyze carefully, not to accept growth by 35 percent, that it is a huge increase in electricity. The government should provide subsidies, so it helps not to impose citizenship, though they are budget money. We're playing a game, a behavior there. I believe it should not exceed 15 percent of the increase in energy tariffs. The Regulatory Office must not accept the 35 percent figure”, Ceku has declared.
Asked whether it's possible that there's no rising price, he said it's impossible.
We can't leave. They can't leave. This is the wrong concept that political parties have installed, the current government that has said that “when I come to power, it never increased (price) of energy”. In the field of energy, to reverse the energy revolution, you don't know government, that it's not up to you, it depends on markets, the stock exchanges there, in COVIED time, then in 2022 and 2023, it reached as much as 700 euros of megawatt”, Ceku said.
