Mesic: Vucinq sukka for concern, agreement with Kosovo, Albania for defence

Croatia's former president, Stipe Mesic, has said that the agreement between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia in the field of defence is a good deal, until he has added that Serbia's president, Alexander Vuciq, why he worries that the agreement between these three states is for protection.

The agreement reached between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia in the field of defence has received much attention and has sparked numerous reactions, especially in Serbia and Aleksandar Vuciqi.

It was the head of the Serbian state who performed the entire event. Speaking in Brussels after meeting with NATO Secretary Vuciq had made efforts to present the agreement as a development against Serbia. It was established that Serbia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs had said it would hold Croatia and Albania accountable for this agreement with Kosovo.

This is a difficult situation for us, but we've understood their message. And, we will guard our country, prevent them and always protect them successfully from any potential aggressor, even such a powerful aggressor”, Vuciq told reporters in Brussels on March 19th.

However, former president of Croatia Stipe Mesic has said Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has nothing to worry about since the agreement between the three states has to do with aspects of defence.

“There is no reason for Serbia's president to be concerned because it's a defence agreement”, former president Mesic told the Express to broadcast Periscope.

The defence agreement between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia has been described as a good deal, with the possibility of joining other states.

Serbia's reactions to the agreement have also reacted to Croatian heads of state. Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has said that for co-operation with Kosovo and Albania they do not ask Serbia.

Before they speak, it would be good to take the effort in five minutes and read that deal. That memorandum is a memorandum for co-operation. There is no hostile character there, so I understand that we need to look for problems elsewhere, but in this text they cannot find”, Plenkovic said, speaking before reporters in Brussels on March 20th 2025.

Earlier, Croatia's Defence Minister Ivan Anussic had responded to Serbia in reaction, saying that the “has passed the time when Zagreb has had to ask Belgrade what it can and what no” and has added that “this time will never come back to”.

Even the head of Albania's Defence Ministry, Ejup Macedonia, has said the Alliance with Albania and Croatia has decided to threaten no state and that it is a message for peace.

We don't intend to threaten anyone, either in the Western Balkans or anywhere else. We want to send a message of stability and security, but even a message to all who are aiming to threaten security in the Western Balkans, the territory and life of the citizens of our countries,” has declared Macedonia on March 20th.

Today, Albanian Defence Minister Pirro Vng has also reacted, publishing the full agreement between three states. The Albanian minister says Serbia has ignored regional initiatives for two years and has thus managed to promote or participate in multilateral consultations.

The Watcher has said the suspension of such an indignatory position of Serbia is in the hands of official Belgrade to be sidelined, and that makes any narrative victim coming from Serbia in vain.
