The Democratic League of Kosovo has expressed deep indignation and opposition to the Yomprom to ZRE's recent warning of 15% increase in electricity prices.
According to the LDK, this represents the third price increase during the mandate of this Government, which has witnessed significant disabilities in energy sector management and in the protection of public interest, broadcasts Periscope.
This unacceptable decision is clear evidence of the lack of social and political sensitivity of this power, which, instead of helping citizens, is systematically hitting them with the increase in cost of living. In the past four years, citizens of the Republic of Kosovo have faced high inflation, price hikes in all vital sectors, while wages have been recorded and purchasing power has collapsed.
The recent increase in the price of electricity is not only unfair and unwarranted but also harmful to general interest. Moreover, this Government is using ZRE as an instrument to impose the cost of its ruling failures and the lack of vision for sustainable economic development on citizens.
The LDK considers this price hike a direct blow to citizens' living standards. We call on the ZRE not to become the tool of the wrong policies of power and return to its true function: consumer protection and guaranteeing a fair and transparent energy market.
Kosovo deserves competent governance and vision, not a power that treats people as burdens. The LDK will continue to be a strong voice in the defence of civic interest and will object with all democratic means to any policy weighing unjustly over them”, the official response said.
