National elections were held in Kosovo on February 9th, the process that marked numerous delays and irregularities, as never before, reports Periscope.
Recounts of ballot counting, reports of vote thefts and manipulations abounded throughout the country.
Of these elections, the Democratic League of Kosovo managed to come in third with 17,75% of the vote. For this, the LDK diaspora has risen to its feet by crucifying party chairman Lumir Abdixhiku.
LDK branch head Osman Feriz in Germany via a letter casts grave accusations against Abdixhik for the party's failure in the election.
According to Feriz, within the LDK there continue to be internal problems which, according to him, are serious obstacles to party success.
Periscop has managed to secure the letter Abxispect has never made public.
Full letter:
Letter to LDK chairman, Mr. Lumir Obadiah and Headship
Your Honor,
After the results of the February 9th 2025 elections, I feel the moral and political obligation to address them with this letter to express my concern over the current situation of the Democratic League of Kosovo. The result was not expected, and for many of us, it presents a lost opportunity to restore it The LDK as the main political force in the country.
These elections represented an important opportunity to benefit from the discontent of citizens with the failed rule of Prime Minister Kurti, who in the past four years failed to bring success to any key sector, including education, economy, health and diplomacy. Also, the Democratic Party of Kosovo(PDK) was in a difficult situation because of the lack of its leaders, who are in The Hague.
Despite these favourable circumstances for an LDK recovery, however, the result testified that domestic problems continue to be a serious obstacle to party success. One of the main factors that negatively influenced is the way the structures are built and functioning in branches and subdeghes. Internal elections in many cases have been conducted advertisingly, not reflecting the true will of membership and creating a sense of lack of real representation.
Another major concern is the intervention in selecting candidates from the diaspora, which has caused dissatisfaction with many activists and supporters of the party abroad. Moreover, it is necessary to have an immediate process of clearing LDK ranks by individuals who undermine its credibility, including those involved in electoral manipulations, political markets and other abuses, since Shkumbin Gashi and his group.
It is urgent that leadership take concrete measures to restore the confidence of membership and of citizens in LDK. In this direction, I ask you as chairman to initiate deep reform within the party, including:
- Review and democratisation of internal structures, ensuring that each member has the opportunity to be represented fairly and honestly, the involvement of three generations in structures and the creation of one unity and trust in values.
- Transparency and meritocracy in selecting candidates, avoiding the effects of interest groups and political markets.
- The immediate removal of corrupt individuals who have damaged the image and credibility of the LDK, as well as their pursuit through legal institutions, if there is evidence of abuse.
- The diaspora's involvement in decision-making, ensuring that its contribution is not limited to the vote but to be an active part of party strategies and policies.
If these measures are not taken urgently, the LDK risks losing even further citizens' support and deepening its political crisis. For this reason, I ask you to reflect seriously and take appropriate action to ensure a stronger and brighter future for our party.
With respect,
Osman Feriz
11.03.2025.
