Russians Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus, have deceived world leaders and celebrities for many years. The last to fall prey is Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Their fraudulent phone calls have prompted investigations by governments, raised concerns about possible intervention and links to Russia's security services.
It all started when Kuznetsov, a lawyer, and Stolyarov, economist, started calling inside Russia by cheating Russian celebrities before even going into domestic politics and finally going through the international stage.
Both received international fame when they deceived the music legend, Elton John, claiming he was speaking to Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2015.
The Comedians have repeatedly claimed that they have no political agenda in what they do, but their work seems to indicate a strong attitude with the views of the Kremlin and may even have received information that might be useful to him, wrote the Independent<11>.
At the start of the war in Ukraine, cyber security experts stressed that the pair had raised the focus on cheating senior officials in America and Europe. Since the war, they had been targeting dozens of top international politicians.
Among the most popular names that fell prey to Vovan and Lexus were former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Prince Harry, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, and others.
