Latvia President: Measures against Kosovo must be removed

Latvia's president, Edgars Rincçavis, said he came to Kosovo for several reasons. The first one said it has to do with discussing the bilatheral discussion he had in Pristina with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani for advancing relations between the two countries. He further cited discussion of regional stability, support the European Union can offer for Kosovo, broadcasts Periscope.
RenkÇavič said the issue of EU punitive measures towards Kosovo was also discussed, which he said should be removed.
“We also discussed the issue of lifting the restrictive measures that have been imposed on Kosovo, and I said that my country's position is that the EU should remove those”, he said.
He said that “will come back and discuss with my colleagues about this, we will see what we can do”.
That's why we're into the EU and we're going to keep doing it. My conviction is that the sooner this is done, the better it will be”, Renk avis said.
The Latvian president said another reason why he is in Kosovo is the fact that his state has the largest military contingent serving under KFOR. He said Latvia “is interested in stability”.
“Letonia fully supports Kosovo's integration into international organisations and discussed membership in the Council of Europe as a matter of fact. You have our full support. We have always supported you for full membership there, and we believe this can pave the way for other international organisations”, he said.
He said there are still <x0) many opportunities to improve trade relations” between Kosovo and Latvia, while citing political relations.
Pharmaceuticals and information technology, he said there are two sectors where more can be co-operated.
