Serbia's President Allexander Vuciq stated in Brussels that signing a memorandum between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia for co-operation in the field of defence poses violations of a sub-regional agreement and added it is almost certain that NATO was not aware of that.
Vuciqi, answering a journalist's question after meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, confirmed that this was one of the topics of the conversation he raised.
This is a violation of the so-called sub-regional arms control agreement from 1996, but we have seen from the reactions of Croatia and some other parts of the region that they are not very interested in it. I am almost convinced that NATO was not even informed and that it was not even told which agreements were violated”, Vuciq said.
He added he doesn't think Pristina, Zagreb or Tirana will worry about that.
It's up to us to point out to Mr. Rutte and the people in NATO and everyone else that this is a violation of what has been accepted, signed and respected since 1996. It is up to us to understand reality and to prepare for the future in line with the” circumstances, the Serbian president further said.
Kosovo, Albania and Croatia have signed the Declaration for Strengthening Defence Co-operation, while Serbia said it will seek an urgent explanation from the foreign ministries of Croatia and Albania concerning the signed document.
The declaration, which reportedly contributes to Southeast European security, was signed yesterday in Tirana by the defence ministers of the three countries: Ejup Macedonci, Pirro Ving and Ivan Anuschi.
They have opened an arms race in our region, it's a difficult situation for us, but we understand their message. And we will keep our country safe, prevent them, and always defend successfully from any potential aggressor, even such a powerful aggressor”, Vuciqi said.
He confirmed that with Rutten he has discussed all important issues, co-operation, the situation in Kosovo and relations between the Serbian Army and KFOR, as well as the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.. /Periscopi/
