Erion Veliaj has appeared before the Special Court Appeals Court today to seek to ease the measure given to him, that of prison arrest, while around 9:40, he has arrived from Durres' detention at the court's premises.
The mayor of Tirana, who has repeatedly named his arrest as illegal and the prosecutor of the case, has pressed charges, today at a hearing to be conducted by Judge Engert Pelumbi.
The latter is the judge who sentenced former Prime Minister Saimir Tahiri to prison, while being elected by lots to judge the Veliaj case as Judge Ilirjana Olldashi is on record because of health problems.
The mass has also complained 4 of the 6 businessmen charged with corruption in the case, Meriman Palushi, Shkelqim Field, Gentian Sula, currently under a “presentation display”, while businessman Elman Abdule, arrested, requires a softer measure than detention. Businessmen Sokol Kryeziu and Fatmir Bektash have not complained of the Special Court's decision, “submitive action”.
Veliaj is accused of criminal acts “Passive corruption” and “Cleaning money”, carried out in co-operation with his wife, Ayla Xoxa, who is being investigated to the extent of presentation, even for default wealth.
