On Thursday for a visit to our country was Latvia's president, Edgars Rincevics, until state honour was received by Republika President Vjosa Osmani.
Both leaders confirmed the excellent relationship between the two states. At the joint conference, bilateral reports, security, EU measures towards Kosovo, dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, etc.
Latvia's President Edgars Rinkevics said the state he leads is pro-remoting EU restrictive measures towards Kosovo, broadcasts Periscope.
Rinkevic also stressed that he supports the full normalisation of relations between Pristina and Belgrade.
“We also discussed removing EU measures towards Kosovo, and my country's position is that the EU should remove those restrictive measures. The sooner this gets better. We also support the full normalisation of relations between Pristina and Belgrade, the continuation of dialogue because we believe this is the best way to improve stability and security in the region in the longer-term”, Rinkevic said.
He further said I cannot promise that candidate country status for the EU could be granted to Kosovo by the end of the year, saying that “cannot speak on behalf of all member states”.

The Latvian president further stressed that they are interested in strengthening political and economic relations with Kosovo.
“Letonia fully supports Kosovo's integration into international organisations. You have our full support for membership in the Council of Europe. Also full support you have from Latvia for the European integration process”, Rinkevics has said.
Rinkevic has finally thanked Kosovo for its support of Ukraine, and extended a public invitation to President Osmani to visit Latvia.
“You are welcome to visit Latvia”, the Latvian president said.
Meanwhile, the first of Kosovo's state at the joint conference has thanked Latvia for its support of Kosovo.
She said Latvia is a powerful Kosovo partner and has supported membership in international organisations, thus contributing to empowering the state of Kosovo.
“Letonia well understands Kosovo's position as our two countries have a painful and very difficult past and are limited to aggressive states”, she said.
The first of Kosovo's state said Kosovo citizens have the highest level of credibility against the EU.
Therefore, it is time to prioritize the unfair measures the European Union still has in force towards Kosovo and as soon as the method is found, to find the way and the way forward for the status of candidate country of our Republic”, she said.
Osmani further said that if Latvia and Kosovo are committed to Euro-Atlantic, good neighbourly values, maintaining sovereignty and territorial integrity.

She thanked President Rinkevic for extending the mandate until December 2025 of the 140 Latvian soldiers in Kosovo that are within KFOR.
Osmani said they have also talked about expansion in the field of defence.
“As a result of new security challenges, we also discussed the modalities for Kosovo to actively contribute to achieving common goals in the field of security”, it said, Telegrafi reported.
While our state and region still face destabilising actions from Serbia, it is important that the EU has clear answers to such actions aimed at turning the region back to the past”, she said.
The first of Kosovo's state stressed that Kosovo has done its best to contribute to regional stability and despite the fact that there have been attacks by Serbia over the past two years with the aim of annexing a portion of territory according to Russia's model.

The president said Kosovo has successfully beaten this thanks to Kosovo professional forces and Allied support.
According to her, lack of responsibility is only encouraging Serbia for other actions.
At this conference for media Osmani has also been asked about the draft Association drafted by the European Union.
She stressed that the draft drafted by the European Union is not in line with the Kosovo Constitution.
She said the draft has numerous problems that have been addressed to the new EU minister for dialogue, Peter Sorensen, at the meeting held earlier this week.
