Kiev is represented in talks by Foreign Minister Andriy Syhbika and Defence Minister Rustem Umero.
While on the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is the top US official in the talks.
“Ukrainian wants peace and is willing to negotiate to end this fight”, says President Zelensky's top adviser.
Kiev is also expected to push the US towards the resumption of military aid and intelligence exchange after Washington suspended both last week.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that both aspects of Ukrainian support could resume if Kiev engages in a peace process.
Rubio said the initial suspension of the aid came because, he says, “we felt Ukrainians were not committed to” in negotiations to end the war.
He said that if this changes, US politics will likely change as well.
“I hope we have a really good meeting tomorrow and we're going to be in another”, he added.
There have also been reactions from Europe.
European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen said the European security order is being shaken, with Russia's increasingly aggressive stance and the change in US defence policy.
“Some believed Russia could integrate into Europe's economic and security architecture. Others hoped that we could rely indefinitely on the full protection of America. The timing of illusions has ended”, she said.
Even Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk posted on social networks, stressing the importance of today's US-Ukrainian talks in Jeddah.
Dear Americans, Ukrainian lovers, don't miss this chance. The whole world is watching you today at Jeddah. Good luck! /Periscopi/
