US-based airline United Airlines told the BBC that “after the closure, seven United States flights returned to their origin or to other airports”.
Friday's “Flights to London Heathrow are being cancelled”, a spokesman added, broadcast the signal.
They also said the airline is working with its clients to offer alternative travel options.
