Emmanuel Macron reports that a “security force” in Ukraine will act as a security guarantee and will be established a day after a peace agreement.
The term is different from the “peacekeeping force” that has been discussed so far. The idea was a British and French at Ukraine's request, Macron says, follow through. Periscope.
He says the force is in a phase of planning, but the force would not be a replacement for peacekeeping troops holding any ceasefire.
The French leader says some states will contribute to the force '%s' but it will not be on the contact line, rather it will be placed in the <x0 strategic area”. He also says that not every country in the coalition of the ready meeting said he wants to be included. “is not unanimous”, he says, but adds: “We don't need unanimity to reach it”.
This security force should not replace peacekeeping forces on the contact line or the strong Ukrainian army,”, he says, adding that there would be further discussions.
