Avdullah Hoti rebel, gravely criticised Obadiah: It's custom LDK. We need new leadership.

Former Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has had sharp criticism in the direction of the Kosovo Demkratic League leadership (LDK), saying he has personalised it The LDK and that it has affected the poor outcome in these elections. Avdullah Hoti, through a response to the social network Facebook, has said the LDK has received poor results that do not comply with the LDK's expectations before elections and during the preparation of four years of opposition.

But the LDK score is not satisfactory. It is not even close to what we have hoped for after four years of preparation. It is clear that (1) the opposition we've made in the past four years, (2) the reshuffle of many LDK branches after the 2021 elections, (3) the internal elections of the 2023 LDK, as well as (4) the programme, team and access we've offered during the 30 days of the election campaign, and several months before the campaign, did not suffice to convince citizens”, he wrote, reports Periscop.

According to Hoti, some of the most pronounced problems have been the restructuring of the LDK, which he calls <x0-sensive”, as well as the distance from the past LDK.

“The destination of the current leadership to make unnatural cuts, as well as distance from the glorious state-state past of LDK, despite the challenges of concessions during the trip of past leaders, have reduced the faith of the traditional LDK electorate”, Hoti said.

Hoti also cited both the party's major and personalisation problem, citing the personalisation of the campaign, the composition of the list, the ranking of candidates on the list for MPs.

“Personalisation of the election campaign, the composition of the list, the ranking of candidates on the list, the presentation and media favouring of a close list of LDK candidates, as well as other issues ahead and during the campaign, have damaged the inner party cohesion, despite all of us efforts to overcome those discontent. The disproportional vote in the diaspora has further exacerbated and violated the colleague and collaborative atmosphere within the LDK”, Hoti wrote.

Hoti says that to restore the trust of membership and wide electorate, the LDK needs new leadership.

“The LDK needs a team approach leadership, which is inclusive, with clear centre-right political orientation, which gathers around itself professionals and returns the LDK to Kosovo's best professional environment, as was LDK”, he wrote. /Periscope/

Praise and Reflections for the Election Process

With deep gratitude, I thank every citizen for believing in the Democratic League of Kosovo, as well as my commitment to being your voice in the Kosovo Assembly. I assure all those who entrusted me with the vote that I will be a strong and uncompetitive voice in defense of the interests of every citizen and Republic of Kosovo.

I would like to thank the LDK structures for the work done in the campaign: the chairmanship, the heads of branches and the sub-entity with their structures, the women's and youth forums, as well as every LDK member in Kosovo and the diaspora. We have all worked as hard as we could and knew to ensure the citizens' confidence in the LDK programme and team.

But the result for LDK is not satisfactory. It is not even close to what we have hoped for after four years of preparation. It is clear that (1) the opposition we have made in the past four years, (2) the reshuffle of many LDK branches after the 2021 elections, (3) the LDK's internal elections of 2023, as well as (4) the programme, team and access we have offered during the 30 days of election campaign, and several months before the campaign did not suffice to convince citizens.

So, thanks to everyone, we ask you for understanding that we haven't managed to organise enough and how we should get a much greater citizen confidence, as I believe can be provided with another LDK organization.

Apart from the poor result in elections, another concern has been put forward with diaspora votes. In the embassy vote, a political party (LVV) has been voted over and unproportionately compared to voting in Kosovo. In mail voting, several candidates from the LDK list have also been voted unproportionally compared to the vote in Kosovo. Both of these phenomena, when the municipality is analysed for municipalities, are clearly far from natural. This phenomenon has created uncertainty in the entire election process. Beyond that, in the case of the LDK the internal cohesion of party structures has been hurt, as well as the trust of traditional LDK voters and the integrity our political home has had for 35 years.

Therefore, for the interest of the country and the LDK, it is necessary to reflect on this election outcome and these developments, both politically and legally.

In the past four years, the party leadership has been engaged in restructuring the party and branch across Kosovo. But, in not a few cases, it was done selectively, unstatemently and without necessary consideration to some of the LDK's internal specifications. These specifications are unique to the LDK, which as a 35-year-old party has given Kosovo two presidents, three prime ministers, dozens of ministers and deputy ministers, hundreds of deputies and senior state officials.

The direction of the current leadership to make unnatural cuts, as well as the distance from the glorious state-state past of LDK, despite the challenges of concessions during the trip of past leaders, have reduced the confidence of the traditional LDK electorate. Instead of building on those achievements of the LDK, the current leadership has created a distance to the people and achievements of Kosovo during the LDK-led governments.

The performance of the election campaign, the composition of the list, the ranking of candidates on the list, the presentation and media favouring of a close list of LDK candidates, as well as other issues before and during the campaign, have damaged the inner party cohesion, despite all of us efforts to overcome those discontent. The disproportional vote in the diaspora has further exacerbated and violated the colleague and co-operative atmosphere within the LDK.

Therefore, to restore the trust of membership and broad electorate, the LDK needs new leadership. There is no other way to restore confidence in the LDK.

The LDK needs a team approach leadership, which is inclusive, with clear centre-right political orientation, gathering around professionals and converting the LDK into the era of Kosovo's best professionals, such as LDK.

The LDK needs a leadership that works with full transparency against party structures at all levels, which turns the party into statuteal functioning, making college decisions on the basis of the LDK statute (which is the party constitution) and in broad consultation with the party's central and local structures.

The LDK needs a team leadership to ease the divisions, which shows caution to all young and old activists, who bring together all the LDK debris on four sides of the country and in the diaspora.

Such leadership is essential for the unification, empowerment and return of the LDK to its basic principles as a precondition to regain the citizens' trust to lead with Kosovo.

I firmly believe that the entire current LDK leadership should support this change in the LDK, paving the way for change, becoming part of the new leadership. I call on the current leadership to support this change in the interest of the LDK and Kosovo. Everyone in LDK is aware that only together can we restore the citizens' great trust to LDK.

Therefore, I invite all of us to overcome ourselves, put aside resentment and discontent, and devote ourselves to strengthening the LDK for the interest of Kosovo.

The Republic of Kosovo needs a vital LDK strong on its Euro-Atlantic journey, in meeting challenges for strengthening legitimacy and constitutional order, for building a powerful and competitive economy, for strengthening interAlbanian relations throughout the region. Kosovo needs a strong LDK to maintain and cultivate partnership with allies, in particular permanent friendship with the US”.

By contrast, according to results announced by the Central Election Commission, the LDK in the February 9th elections, the third party has emerged, securing 20 mandates in the Kosovo Assembly.
