Prizren's prosecution, located 86km west of the capital, Pristina, has accused Fikrim Damka, Minister of Regional Development, of attacking two people from a rival party of the Turkish minority on Election Day.
“After the prosecution, the alleged attack came as a consequence of the “publishing some information and news on social media platforms” that were critical of Damka and his party. Damka, leader of the Turkish Democratic Party, was banned and placed in house arrest. He denies the accusations. If convicted, he could face up to a year in prison”, the AP writes.
Kosovo held parliamentary elections on February 9th, where Prime Minister Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje Movement won 48 seats in the 120-member parliament, failing to secure the majority.
In their writing, Kurti stressed that during the campaign, he promised he would not co-operate with the other two main parties, making it crucial to support non-Serb minority parties, which have 10 seats in parliament.
With two seats in the new parliament, Damka's party may be an important ally./Periscopi/
