March 24th of this year marks the 26th anniversary of the launch of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's air strikes, widely known as NATO.
The attacks were carried out on Serbian targets.
The Western military alliance's bombings to Yugoslavia, consisting of Serbia and Montenegro, began following the failure of the 1999 negotiations on resolving the Kosovo conflict, while the Serbian side refused to sign a peace agreement in Rambouille.
The bombings, which lasted 78 days, were suspended on June 10, 1999, with the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1244, envisioning Kosovo's administration by a UN mission. /PERISCOP
