Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky will host a US special envoy on Thursday, after receiving sharp criticism from President Donald Trump, who said Moscow now has “cards in hand to end the war.
The American president criticised Zelensky as an unelected dictator and told him that it is better to act quickly and peacefully or will remain unregulated.
This new Trump indictment, which is planning a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, comes hours before a planned meeting in Kiev between US envoy Keith Kellogg and Ukrainian leader, in an extremely tense context.
According to the American president, Kiev earlier avoided a visit by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent last week. “Zelensky was sleeping and was not available to meet with”, Trump said.
Zelensky, whose position seems weakened by the rapprochement between Washington and Moscow, said he hopes to work “constructively” with Kellogg.
