DUI MP Talat Xhaferi, at a news conference, said that the representation of Albanians in the Ministry of Defence and the Army of Northern Macedonia has deteriorated significantly.
He stressed that in recent months a discrimination policy is being implemented, where Albanians are being excluded from key positions and experienced officers are being degraded.
According to recent data: Out of 10 directors in the new systematisation, none is Albanian; out of 12 advisers in the Ministry of Defence, only 1 is Albanian; out of 29 sectors in the ministry, none is Albanian; out of 13 sectors in the Army General Staff, none is Albanian; out of 30 battalion commanders, only 5 are Albanians; Albanian officers with high degrees and professional qualifications are being degraded or removed from key positions.
Xhaferi raised concern about the exclusion of Albanians from military education programmes abroad and about increasing nationalist rhetoric.
He according to Klan Macedonia, also stressed that the situation in the Military Intelligence Service is alarming, as neither the director nor his three deputies are Albanians.
Furthermore, in three elite units, such as the Wolfes, the Rangers and Military Police, there is no Albanian commander, exacerbating Albanian representation in the military.
