Trump told reporters that the war in Ukraine “could be concluded within weeks”, and stressed that “sees no problem with sending European troops as peacekeepers”, the Telegrafi broadcast.
Besides mentioning that he can meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy “this week or next week”, Trump has also confirmed that he will meet with Vladimir Putin “at a moment”.
When asked if Ukraine should give up territory as part of an agreement to end the war, Trump said “would see”.
Macron said the power of the US re-agement “is a source of uncertainty for Putin”, and added that France is “ready to offer security guarantees to Ukraine”.
The American president has been asked whether he will characterise Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “dictator”, since he had used this word earlier to describe Ukraine's Volodyyr Zelensky.
“I don't use those words easily, we'll see how everything will work, said Trump, adding that they have a “shans for a very good solution” between Ukraine and Russia.
An unresolved war between the two countries “could lead to the Third World War”, he said.
Meanwhile, Macron says they had a good discussion during a G7 call this morning, and that he will discuss “long-term peace” in Ukraine with Trump today.
Europe is ready to speed up” defence, he added, but the strong “ “US” is needed to ensure peace is achieved in Ukraine.
