US President Donald Trump has said on January 31st that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin can talk very quickly and make known something important towards ending the conflict in Ukraine.

According to Trump, his administration has only had very serious concerns about the war in question”, and attempts to end it.

Trump has not indicated which of his administration has been in contact with the Russians, but has insisted that the two sides “are speaking”. He didn't tell if he was personally involved in discussions.
Trump said last week he would like to meet Putin as soon as possible to end the war.

Keith Kellogg, retired American general committed to leading the war-breaking talks, has said at a news conference on January 7th that there are making preparations for talks between Trump and Putin.
He has said that Trump will likely manage to negotiate with Putin and with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump has said in the election campaign that he will end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office. Now he hopes to end the war within six months.
During the campaign, Trump has said Russia would never conquer Ukraine if he was president, while he has repeated that claim on January 31st.
Trump is critical of the aid sent to Washington Kiev, and has said Ukraine would have to make concessions before the start of the war almost three years ago.
In a recently conducted interview for a Russian state television, Putin has praised Trump as <x0-source smart and pragmatic”, which is focused on American interests.
“We've always had business-style, pragmatic relations, but even in trust, with the current American president”, Putin said.
The Russian president has dismissed the possibility of direct peace talks with Zelensky. Putin has said he does not consider Zelensky the legitimate leader of Ukraine.
The elections in Ukraine would have to be held on March 31, 2024, but have been postponed because the state is still in a state of war due to conflict. / REL/
