The German leader, who is a strong supporter of Ukraine and democracy, named this comment of Trump as the incorrect and dangerous “ ”, stressing that there is no real basis for calling it dictator Zelensky.
He stressed that any attempt to undermine Ukrainian president's authority is not only wrong, but also dangerous for the stability and security of Ukraine and the region, writes Skynews.
In a statement, Scholz stressed that “is simply a dangerous mistake to deny President Zelensky's democratic legitimacy”, referring to the fact that Ukrainian president was elected by Ukrainian people fairly and legally, the telegraph reports.
He added that Ukraine is an independent state and has the right to make its elections without outside interference, and that any comment that undermines this right is contrary to the fundamental principles of democracy and national sovereignty.
These comments by the German Chancellor come after a series of criticisms Trump has made against US policy for Ukraine, including his remarks attacking President Zelensky.
Scholz, as leader of one of the main European Union countries, has strongly supported Ukraine's stance on Russian aggression and has demanded that the world continue to support the country in fighting for freedom and sovereignty.
These Scholz comments were reported by the German newspaper Spiegel, which has reflected the Chancellor's concern about the negative impact major leaders may have on this tense period, where Ukraine is fighting for its survival as a democratic state.
