Trump: Soon with $5 million anyone can become US citizen

United States President Donald Trump has declared on Tuesday that the US will start selling “gold cards to foreign rich people, giving them the right to live and work in the US and offering them a right to citizenship in exchange for a payment of [...]
We're going to sell a gold card, have Green Card, this is the golden card, we're going to put a price on that card at about $5 million and give it to Green Card's privileges, plus it's going to be a way to citizenship, and rich people will come to our place to buy this” card, has declared Trump by the Oval Office.
Trump has stressed that the sale of these cards will begin within two weeks and has suggested that millions of such cards can be sold, Time.net reports.
Asked whether he would consider their sale to Russian oligarchs, Trump responded by saying “po, most likely, I know some Russian oligarchs who are very good people”.
US Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick, who stood near Trump, has declared that the charter will replace government visa programme for immigrant investors EB-5, which allows foreign investors to invest money in US projects that create jobs and then apply for visas to implant in the US.
“They will have to go through the property, however, to make sure they are wonderful world citizens”, Lutnick added.
Created by Congress in 1992, program EB-5 can guarantee Green Card for immigrants who make a minimum investment of $1,550,000, or $80,000 in limited economic areas called specific employment areas, to create jobs for American workers, according to the U.S. State and Imigration Service website.
Businesses linked to Trump and his family have also used the programme to finance major property developments.
The programme has received criticism from the two main parties by lawmakers in Congress during Trump's first mandate, many have said the programme has deviated from its goals and needs reform.
The Trump Administration in 2019 has increased the minimum investment in designated economic areas to $90,000 and $1.8 million in other areas, but a federal judge has banned change in 2021.
For the last time, the programme was restored in 2022 during the Benden administration, with the minimum required at current levels rising.
