Although this is not the beginning of peace negotiations as the United States wants to point out, the course is that way. Although Donald Trump predicted that the talks would start “immediately” after his surprise call with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.
Neither Volodymyr Zelensky nor any other Ukrainian officials are in the negotiations today. Zelensky was not even invited to attend this meeting. However, he was declared yesterday during a trip to the United Arab Emirates
“We cannot recognise [peace] agreements ... without us,” he said.
Instead, Zelensky is in Turkey today to meet with President Recep Tayip Erdogan. / BBC/Periscope/
