Rubio takes over USAID leadership

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has taken up the post of task manager of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

During a media statement, Rubio said there are many functions of UAID “that will continue” and those, according to him, will be part of American foreign policy, but “should be in line with American foreign policy”.

I've made it very clear during my hearing hearing hearings that every dollar we spend, every program we finance, that program will be in line with US national interests. USAID has a history of ignoring this and has decided that, somehow, it is a global charity, shared by national interests. These are taxpayers' money”, the American top diplomat declared on February 3rd during his visit to El Salvador.

US media have reported in recent days that American President Donald Trump's administration appears to be closing down. USAID, under a host of measures for government spending cuts.

International humanitarian organisations have warned that such a decision could have catastrophic consequences.

Topping the initiative to shut down the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is Elon Musk, the appointed administrator of Trump for lowering government spending.

Musk claims the administration can cut spending for $1 trillion, and his entire move describes it as a battle against corruption.

USAID workers have accepted a report that the agency's headquarters in Washington will be closed to personnel on February 3rd, “with the decision of the agency's lead”, have reported American media, such as CNN and Associated Press, citing several sources.
