Romania's president, Klaus Iohannis, will resign in two days.
He made the announcement himself, clarifying that he will leave his post, leading the country towards new presidential elections.
This announcement comes as the Romanian opposition was making an effort to oust him from office, as he remained as president even after the Constitutional Court's decision to annul presidential elections, whose first round was won by the right-wing candidate, Calvin Georgescu.
The Constitution cancels presidential elections in Romania, following charges of Russian intervention.
The court cited state documents allegedly showing that Georgescu, who ran as an independent candidate, had benefited from an unfair campaign on social networks, possibly orchestrated by Russia.
Moscow has denied that it has intervened in Romania's elections. The new presidential elections are scheduled to be held on May 4th, and if none of the candidates get the majority, the second round will be held 18 May.
