This statement comes after US President Donald Trump has repeatedly demanded that Ukraine give up some of its minerals in exchange for support, in an agreement that is currently being finalised, according to a Ukrainian minister, writes the BBC, the euronews report.
In a state television interview Monday, Putin said he was ready to go “tore” sources of American partners in joint projects, including mines in Russia's “new arrivals” a reference to parts of eastern Ukraine Russia has occupied since the beginning of a full-scale invasion three years ago.
In his TV interview, Putin rejected Trump's push to enter Ukraine's mineral deposits, saying they were willing to work with “foreign partners”, including companies in mineral mines.
Putin said a possible US-Ukraine deal for rare minerals was not a concern and that Russia “undoubtedly, I want to stress, much more resources of this kind than Ukraine”.
“as far as new territories are concerned, it's the same thing. We are ready to attract foreign partners to our historic territories, which have returned to the Russian Federation”, he added.
Putin also suggested that Russia and the US could co-operate in the production of aluminum in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, where a Russian aluminum producer, Rusal, has its largest smelters.
