Albanian President Bajram Begaj, on the occasion of state waiting for Kosovo's 17th anniversary of independence, said Albania would always be close to Kosovo by supporting Kosovo in “any initiative, in international organisations, the road to the EU and new recognition”. President Begaj asked the EU to lift sanctions on Kosovo and called on member states that have not recognised the Republic of Kosovo to do so.
“Albania and Kosovo are loyal allies of the United States of America and the EU. The ally of the Adriatic Alliance... we believe united Europe is our strategic and vital destination... the non-recognition of Kosovo by some member states is an act that conflicts with this dedication. We want these countries to review their decisions and positions, and the EU also wants to remove the sanctions wrongly imposed on the state of Kosovo”, Begaj said at the ceremony.
Begaj honoured all those who gave much for Kosovo's independence, starting with President Ibrahim Rugova, Commander Adem Jashari, etc.
Today and today, we honour the architect of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, the leader and historic president of Kosovo and Adem Demac. We honor the legendary commander, Adam Yasar and the KLA, and we honor the blood of our martyrs, the tears and pain of our mothers”, Begaj said before those present.
