Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani is expected to meet today with a senior official of the US State Department (DASH) in the United States.

The UN announced on its website that Osman will meet with Louis L. Bonon, senior official at the Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs.

The Kosovo presidency has not announced any such meeting.

Bono took office on January 20th after US President Donald Trump officially began his second mandate at the White House, and Osmani will be the first Kosovo leader to meet with a Trump administration official.

Bono is a member of the Foreign Ministry and has recently served as a senior adviser to negotiations in the Caucasus.

He has also worked at the American Embassy in Berlin and has been a permanent deputy representative of the United Nations Office in Vienna and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Osmani, who had congratulated Trump on winning elections in November, in her annual speech at the Kosovo Assembly late last year, called on MPs to preserve relations with allied countries, saying that violating reports with these countries violates Kosovo itself.

She said then that Kosovo's alliance with other countries is the largest and most important “than any of us as politician”.
