Kosovo Police Deputy Director for the Northern Region Veton Elshani said the decision to raid and close social work centres in the north has been taken at court orders.
On February 8th, there was an action on our part at the Social Work Centre in Zubin Potok, where it had an impact on voters. Police have taken action on obligation, canned instructions, threats to that case, and during the investigation of that case we have come to the conclusion that there are illegal or non-legal documents issued there. We have notified the prosecutor of our findings, the prosecution has supported our idea that we do the raid, and by order of the court we have entered the raid”, he said, adding that EULEX was there but that police are carrying out the court's orders.
He also told RTV21 of an interesting case they had encountered during the raids on these centers.
And what's interesting is that in these centers a person had a computer and had Serbia's system and Kosovo's system, now you've gone to a service and that computer depends on what service you've been looking for. We have here so many parallel institutions that seem to have been us, not Serbia. Here, in fact, we are dealing with Serbia as a whole with institutions in Serbia, and most of us have been closed down to some”, he said,
Elshani confirmed that regarding this case there are no arrests but that three people have been interviewed in the quality of suspects in the “work. Falsification of document”
In response Elshani said the security situation in the north is calm, but delicate.
The security situation is quiet, it's still delicate but it's quiet. We have our duty to maintain order and public calm. We're here in service and protecting the northern citizens of the country, but we don't tolerate any violent prosthetists or street blockades, we don't see any problems. If there is any problem we are to react to”, Elshani said.
Elshani said there are other such cases, but there are not many as before.
