The Constitutional Court in Gjakova has approved Gjakova's Constitutional Prosecutor's request, assigning the 30-day detention measure to indictee G. G., due to the alleged suspicion that he committed the criminal act “Canos”, “The light bodyization” and “keep ownership, control or unauthorized possession of weapons”.
According to the request, on February 26th 2025, on the path “isa Grezda” in Gjakova, the defendant in his house, using firearms and knife, has been singing and exercising physical violence against his wife, E.G., and the injured I.H., keeping them locked up for several hours under gun threat. Also, the same has caused bodily harm to his spouse through stabs and has unauthorizedly kept weapons and ammunition contrary to the law. The weapon and ammunition have been seized by police, while the defendant has been arrested and the victims have received medical treatment.
Prosecution Judge Driton Sadiku has estimated that legal conditions for appointing the detention measure for the defendant in question have been met, because we are dealing with serious criminal acts, so with the possible finding of the defendant in freedom there is the risk of repeating criminal acts and influence on evidence.
The defendant will be held in custody for 30 days, which will be counted from the time of arrest on February 26th 2025, and will last until March 28th 2025.
The sides have the right to appeal to this decision at the Kosovo Court of Appeals.
