London nominated diplomat Karen Pierce emission to the Western Balkans

The UK has appointed diplomat Karen Pierce as special envoys to the Western Balkans.

As one of the most experienced diplomats, the United Kingdom said it is in charge of advancing the strategic goals of the United Kingdom throughout the region.

Also, the United Kingdom announced it will host the leaders of six Western Balkan countries and other European leaders this year, since the Berlin Process will be held there, Express newspaper reports.

The United Kingdom said Pierce would also be in charge of preparations for the summit, which it described as a crucial international “sam to support stability, security and economic co-operation in the region”.

The summit will also discuss irregular migration and the region used as transit routes, and the issue will be discussed with the British government, which said it is focused on using any means available to control its borders.

“officially known as the Berlin Process, the summit will strengthen co-operation with European partners to help implement the United Kingdom government's strategy to strengthen borders, destroy gangs and return to their countries those who do not have the right to be here”, the report said.

The summit comes as the United Kingdom conducts a regime of the world's first sanctions to capture human smugglers.

British Foreign Secretary David Lami said the Western Balkans have long-term importance for the United Kingdom and that partnerships in the region are essential for the country's efforts to address irregular migration and fight trade with human beings.

Karen Pierce served as United Kingdom ambassador to the United Kingdom in the United States, and prior to that, she was the UN Permanent Representative to New York.
