He has compared the current approach to an episode from 1975, when some Yugoslav communists in a Kosovo village declared that “life is given, but Triesta does not give”, despite that the fate of this city has already been decided.
Hoxhaj has isolated two events that, according to him, indicate the country's naive approach to foreign policy.
When it was decided in 1975 that the Trieste tou were to Italy and not Yugoslavia, several Yugoslav communists gathered in a village in Kosovo who in an emergency gathering took a stand and sent in telegram the order that the “life is given by Triesta does not give”. So it seems to me that Kosovo's foreign policy at the beginning of 2025 and there are two events that show this. Last week a politician from Kosovo stayed in Taipei, from Asia attacked Europe, compared Taiwan to Kosovo, and said the military industry in Kosovo is more developed than France's.”, Hoxhaj has said.
“Dje was the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine, of course that independence, territorial integrity, the sovereignty of Ukraine is important for Europe and Kosovo, but it is wrong for Kosovo's fate to match Ukraine when the latter is at war. It is wrong when the same day Americans and Europeans are divided by two different resolutions on the Security Council. If the West is divided on international topics, there is no need for Kosovo foreign policy to convey it in relation to our state. Therefore, such statements remind me of the naiveness and equivalent of Triesta”, he stated.
