Mayor Erion Veliaj reacted again this Sunday from the Durres prison, where he accused prosecutor Ols Dado of acting against him on account of Sali Berisha, while he labelled and Judge Bami that he obeyed that request. Veliaj says that although he was arrested without trial, he will not be able to silence him.
Veliaj raises some questions to prosecutor Dado:
Now I'm asking them a few questions:
- Why is the prosecutor surprised that I've declared diets as income when he did it himself?
- If in my case, the prosecutor has asked the question: “who has covered the expense abroad to citizens Erion Veliaj while saving diets”, does it not create a reasonable doubt that in the case of the citizens Ols Dado, we could be dealing with an individual who has made a mess with his statements?
- Why did we want to do this?
Further:
- Has citizen Ols Dado travelled for services in and abroad these years?
- Did he take diets on these trips?
- Or didn't he take it because he didn't need it?
- For if he took them, and didn't declare them, he made false statements, but in the worst case, his own question arises of himself: Who has covered the expense of the prosecutor who was in need of taking the laws of the State?
- And when you travel with inappropriate contacts and save your diets, that you pay others, should they be declared?
Dear friends, let me continue to dismantle the farce file this Sunday”writes Veliaj further.
According to him, the Dado prosecutor's actions against him and his family are a “pay killings” on behalf of Sali Berisha. He calls the process a “cavourous and malicious error”, while accusing another prosecutor, whom he calls “cassap varinist Sali”, of his role in removing Veliaj from Tirana's direction in the middle of the campaign.
Veliaj says that those who thought that putting him in prison without trial would silence him have made a serious mistake. He again attacks Ols Dado, calling him an incompetent prosecutor who is spreading the file to the media before he himself got to know him.
In part of his message, Veliaj mentions page 35, points 19 of the file, which quoted part of the Dado prosecutor's argument:
“... also stated both incomes and diets to be spent abroad at official meetings, as well as travel tickets abroad, which must be purchased by the contractor Authority, the Tirana municipality through public procurement procedure. Happened under these conditions, the question arises who has covered the expense abroad to citizens Erion Veliaj while saving diets...”
According to Veliaj, this is an absurd argument, comparing this process with the State Security mentality in 1975. He emphasises that Ols Dado himself, in his 2009 declaration of wealth, has declared “revenues benefited from diets” and even sums transferred by the Council of Europe for Travel.
“The bad news is, then, when the prosecutor general's spokesman and spokesman at the time armed him today with the SPAK sword to cut heads of innocent people, with arguments that only half an idiot and half a criminal has no shame in writing,” writes Veliaj.
He explains that income tax legislation recognises the diet as an expense for food and is provided by the state budget, arguing that the prosecutor's claims are groundless. According to him, declaring a amount as aliens does not mean that it has been spared, much less brought up charges on this basis.
At the end of his response, Veliaj concludes the message with the same ironic tone to the prosecutor:
Uh-huh-hmm.
