The technology billionaire, who held top posts in Google from 2001 to 2017, said that the “North Korea, or Iran, or even Russia” can adopt and misuse technology to create biological weapons.
The software engineer called on states to implement surveillance on private technology companies developing an AI models, but also warned that excessive adjustment could drown innovation.
Schmidt supported US export controls on powerful microchips that empower the most advanced artificial intelligence systems.
Before leaving office, former US President Joseph Biden limited microchip exports to all countries, except 18 countries, in order to slow down opponents' progress in researching artificial intelligence. /euronews
