The US State Department, on January 24th, ordered the freeze of new funding for almost all US international aid programmes that were implemented mainly through the American Agency for International Development, USAID.
The GAP Institute said that in Kosovo this decision by US President Donald Trump affects about 17 active projects funded by USAID that make significant contributions to the country's development.
The US president's “orders for the temporary ban on foreign assistance for 90 days in Kosovo affect some 17 active projects funded by USAID that make significant contributions to the country's development. Some of them have started since before the pandemic, and most of them are implemented by American companies and some smaller by local organisations. Key beneficiaries include public institutions such as municipalities, ministries, independent agencies, universities, courts, as well as media, private sector and civil society organisations”, GAP said.
The institute has also published a table of active U projects AID in Kosovo:
