Fatmir Sejdiu in 17th anniversary of independence: “Home is not maintained without friends”

Kosovo must maintain good relations with internationals and focus on political and economic stability, that is former President Fatmir Sejdiu's message to the leaders of Kosovo institutions.

In an interview given in Glam Radio with author Paulina Niushi, on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, Sejdiu said that for the past four years Kosovo has not accepted any recognition until it said recognitions are made without co-operation with internationals.

As far as I was in charge, there have been some 70 recognitions that have been made with consultation with Kosovo's friends, where we know the islands are states and members of the United Nations, the house without friends cannot be maintained and can't walk away without friends”, Sejdiu said.

Furthermore, Sejdiu orders the political scene using figurative expressions.

Kosovo has achieved many goals, but there is much work to do, and the first is the political and economic sustainability of the country, but with many challenges we have mainly in recent years, these issues we need to take rationally. God has given his help but is calling his people to speak, figuratively because it is not mine to dictate”, Sejdiu said.

Sejdiu: In Kosovo's grand agenda, make a good place for internationals!

Former President Sejdiu's statement on the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's independence has been in Kosovo's relations with internationals, he calls for Kosovo to feed good reports on daily basis.

The United States is in the top row in the big deal Kosovo can do and our bread, then other European Union countries, have Japan on the edge of the world that support us, these are values that should be fed every day in good relations.

Sejdiu: The President's post came in time of frustration and great loss of President Rugova!

Addressing the Kosovo leaders, Sejdiu also spoke of the time when he came to the helm of the Kosovo Presidency, thus recalling the great responsibility he held over his shoulders at the time.

I've had contacts with foreign missions after President Rugova's death and those possibilities were to get closer to developments, and later I analysed this that visiting meetings with me has been very frequent, was very challenging the first idea I've got from the American mission to be in charge of the country, Sejdiu recalls,

Sejdiu says it has been a special honor for him to understand that he was the name proposed by President Rugova to follow his path.

I've heard later that President Rugova has given preference to me, there's been such a conversation with him where you're told you're sick, we want your recovery, we want your talks started and we want to continue, what to do, and he's given my name, there might be others who think otherwise, but the truth is this -- Sejdiu said.

Sejdiu: Rugova never worked behind my back!

In the interview given in Glam Radio Sejdiu, he also spoke about his reports to former President Ibrahim Rugova.

It's not the time to say this, but there are others who have thought and acted on things that were not very correct, Rugova never worked behind my back, I have believed in the goal that we will achieve with the movements made of the United States and the European Union, Sejdiu said.

Sejdiu: I immediately accepted the supervised independence

On the eve of Kosovo's 17th anniversary of independence, Sejdiu recalls that the question of whether Kosovo accepts supervised independence has answered yes.

President Ahtisaari asked me in September 2006 if you agree to have supervised independence for several years, I said yes to the first one, because I talked and believed his approach, and his formula has been supervised for a period of five years and it's gone through, it's become kind of a non-real tale but that's reality, Sejdiu said.

Furthermore, Sejdiu recalls that in the past three weeks he has accurately known the day of Kosovo's declaration of independence, but that due to the responsibility not to break the pace of co-operation with the international factor, he has kept it hidden.

While saying the Kosovo Declaration of Independence has been working in co-operation with the international factor, thus knowing that Kosovo is entering a new era.
