After several months of investigation conducted under the Criminal Procedure No. 768 of 2024, recorded for criminal acts “The violation of the rules on toxic substances”, “Production and sale of food and other dangerous substances for the health or life of people”, “Food Product Deception” and “Disuse of duty”, citizens Arben Saif Dyli, Elton Iron Tafa and Elson Petrit Tahiraj have been banned.
From the ongoing investigation results that Elton Tafa, a farmer by profession, sold to Arben Dyli, who is administrator of a collection point -- an amount of about 10 tonnes of Mandarin, which were then exported to Croatia.
Analysis conducted by Croatian authorities has shown that Mandarins contained high levels of pesticide “Fosmet”, a substance forbidden to use and harmful to health. As a result, the shipment has returned to Albania, where it is suspected that Arben Dyle has not eliminated it under legal procedures but has put it back on the market, Euronews reports.
Also, investigations have revealed that Elson Tahiraj, with an inspector's duty to the Regional Directorate of Veterinary and Plant Protection, allegedly abused the task by releasing nuclear certificates for various subjects, including the subject of Arben Dyli.
The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Court on the first degree of general Jurisdiction Berat for further investigative actions.
