The Northern Macedonia Ministry of Interior Affairs has provided details about the action “Vardar”, where 10 people were arrested under suspicion of counterfeiting and putting counterfeit money in circulation.
According to the MPB in Northern Macedonia, the action was launched after the formation of an organised criminal group involving Macedonian and Serbian citizens, who produced counterfeit money at a Skopje residence using special machinery and carved plates that imitated the money safety elements.
The group released this counterfeit currency in circulation in northern Macedonia and Serbia, and most of it ended up in other states, such as Austria, Germany, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia and Kosovo.
As part of the action, according to Klan Macedonia, raids have been conducted on several locations in Skopje, Veles and Prilep, where 9 people from Skopje and one from Veles have been arrested.
