“The EU was not formed to destroy anyone”, Tusk responds to Trump's statements

The EU was not created to destroy anyone “”, Polish Prime Minister said Thursday in response to US President Donald Trump's recent statements targeting the 27-member bloc.

“The EU was not created to destroy anyone. Quite the opposite,” wrote Donald Tusk on X. It was formed to maintain peace, build respect among our nations, create free and fair trade and strengthen our transatlantic friendship”, said Tuskt.

Trump on Wednesday criticised the EU, pledging that it would implement the 25% “generally” tariffs on its exports “very soon”, the euronews reported.

Trump said: “The EU was formed in order to destroy the United States. That's what she meant, and they did a good job. But now I'm president. ”
