Turkey's President, Recep Tayip Erdogan, has congratulated Kosovo on the 17th anniversary of independence, saying it has firm support for sovereignty, territorial integrity and Kosovo's efforts for international affirmation.
Kosovo's presidency has announced on Monday that Erdogan recalled Turkey's role, citing that it was among the first countries to recognise Kosovo's independence.
“In his message, President Ertoğan has expressed to President Osmani and the people of Kosovo the warmest congratulations in his name and the Turkish nation, re-focusing historical, human and cultural ties between the two countries. He has underlined Turkey's steadfast support for its sovereignty, territorial integrity and Kosovo's efforts for its affirmation in the international arena, recalling his country's role as one of the first countries to recognise Kosovo's independence”, the communiqué said.
Also, Erdogan was said to have stressed the common will for strengthening and expanding reports in areas of mutual interest.
