Economic recognition for the price of electricity: Energy mafia mirror Kurti-Brishaj-Krasniqi

Three companies dealing with the energy issue in Kosovo, COST, KEDS and KESCO have requested expensive electricity in the country, while this is being considered by the Electricity Regulatory Office. Regarding these developments by the incumbent government, there was no voice, but numerous reactions were made by opposition and citizens, and on the other side of the economy connoisseur estimate that “bep” of this is Prime Minister Albin Kurti along with Martin Berisha and Nagip Krasniqi.

According to economics journalist Dreem Hamid, if such growth is approved by 35%, then the current will amount to 150%.

“over the past three years, if demand is approved by the energy companies KEDS, KESCO and COSTS for energy tariffs price for 35 %s, we will have the electricity expensive for nothing less than 150 %. No government in the past for a mandate has increased energy tariffs so much that they have increased in Prime Minister Albin Kurti”'s mandate, Hamid said.

On the other hand, Hamid has stressed that such high expensiveness has not occurred in any country, and this will cost many Kosovo families.

The “Such a high price has not occurred in any other country except Kosovo, and with the entry of new power tariffs from April 1st, during the next winter season we will have an average price of 50-100 euros per family bills. This cost each family an average of 5 loaves a day, which KEDs receive through the expensive power”.

And according to the other economic journalist, Frezen Dajaj, rising electricity prices are due to KEK mismanagement and the involvement of the energy mafia.

Unfortunately, according to all the information we have and based on the reason for the price increase demand that KESCO has made, I think we'll again have price increases. I don't think it'll be approved by 35%, but I expect it to be 10 to 15 %s. This increase and growth in the last four years, which has gone about 100% for consumers who spend over 800 megawatts, is due to KEK's mismanagement, not producing the capacity we have, of the involvement of the energy mafia, where interests capture multimillion figures from import”, Daakaj told Periskopi.

Like Dajaj, journalist Hamid has praised the scandal of Ambassador Martin Berishaaj with the energy company GEN.

“If the ZERE Board approves new tariffs with 35 % growth, it is known that they have clearly had pressure from Government “Kurti”, since in Bord of ZRE, there are several members that in the past have worked in the KED, while Prime Minister Albin Kurti has met several times Turkish oligarchies who are ECDS owners, and at the same time, this government structure has interests through Kosovo Ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berisha, who has been co-operating with the energy company Slovenia, respectively, sent to Belgrade, which he has accepted from his financial transfers, Hazarde Hamdi said.

That the power mafia has a hand in this, journalist Dajaj has shown a mirror of energy import statistics, where he says, in 2021 imports have tripled to 155. 6m euros and in 2024, Kosovo has imported 114.7m euros.

In the last four years as we've never seen before, we've had a row of KEK's blogs. It has also been mentioned in KESCO's request for allowing energy prices to rise, the deviation of local production, which means that production plans by KEK and KEDS/ KESCO is due to import energy for covering consumption. The cost of import if viewed from 2017 to 2024 clearly shows what I said. In the past four years, import costs have amounted to close to 590m euros. So this is the mirror; in 2017 we have imports of electricity worth 68.7m euros, in 2018 we have imported 53.9m euros, in 2019 50.1m euros, in 2020 we imported 41.8m euros, and by 2021 it has tripled to 155.6m euros, 2022 181.7m euros, 2023 137.1m euros, and 2024 114m euros.7m euros. We think yesterday the Energy Regulatory Office ( ZRE) has made it known that any decision on possible expensive electricity will be based on a detailed assessment and public consultation.
