Full Posting:
February 17 is the crowning of our centuries-old dreams, of countless sacrifice throughout generations. It is the day when the flag of independence rose upon our pain, when our long - awaited state was built on the wounds of war.
Dear veterans, I understand your dilemmas. How can you celebrate with those who have denied you? How can you rejoice with those who have called you a mercenary? How can you share your holiday with those who have treated you as a burden for years rather than as a foundation for that freedom?
But, fine veterans, you who gave everything, you who have been left with wounds in your body and soul this is your party! This is not the political party, nor of those today who divide the people of Kosovo into good” of bad “”. This is the feast of all who sacrificed; of mothers who never saw their sons again; of those who fought with weapons, with words, with boldness, and with hope.
Whether you celebrate or not, your heart knows why. And no one can take your credit. No one can make your war dim. No one can relieve your pain.
My prayer for you is humbly: celebrate! Politicians and governments are temporary. You are permanent.
It doesn't matter if you're part of government ceremonies. You, you party!
Glory to the fallen for freedom! Deep respect for you for making this day possible!
